The Kindness Challenge

“I can not control what others say or do but I can control how I respond.”  I quote this daily to my children.  We need to learn to take responsibility for how we act and how we respond to other people.

We are having a “respond with kindness ” challenge at the Henry Home.

Even in disagreements you can treat the other person with kindness and respect. You don’t have to start name calling. There is no reason to be unkind or belittle anyone.

This challenge is not about giving in, and not taking a stand.  It is about treating others the way Christ would treat them. It is about obeying Christ. It is about glorifying God with your words and actions. It is about pointing others to Christ with your words and actions. It is about showing respect to others. It is about showing the World the Love of God. It is about being kind.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Eph 4:32

Respond With Kindness Challenge! Who is with us?  Please leave your me your name  and why you are going to do the challenge!

HappyCreation Day

imageGenesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

All things were created by God. The massive bodies of water,The sea creatures, the birds, exotic animals, the flowers, trees, the tallest mountain, God created everything.

Our planet is massive, it is full of beauty and wonder. I love studying about the ocean, the rain forest, the desserts, and everything in between with my children. I love teaching them about God’s creation.

We also have been talking about being a good steward.  We should take care of what God has given us. God created beauty, He created us to enjoy the beauty of his creation, we should take care of the earth for future generations . I do believe in being a good stewards of what God has entrusted me with.

So this Earth day, or as I call it Creation Day. Remember to take time to breathe, take time to worship the Creator, take time to enjoy His Creation.

Mind, Body, Soul

Do you ever feel guilty about doing something for yourself?  I know I do.  How do we get past the guilt of taking care of ourselves?

My last post was about filling up so we can give to others. We have to take care of ourselves Spiritually, Physically, and Mentally. If we do not take time to fill up, if we do not take care of ourselves, then we will have nothing left to give.

So do not beat yourself up for taking time to exercise, reading your Bible, reading a good book, or taking a coffee break.  It is ok to go to the store and buy yourself something new once in awhile.

We need to fill up everyday.  We need to take care of our mind, our body, and our spirit.  We only get one body, we only have 24 hours in a day, we only get one life so be a good steward of what God has given you.
